Great crew with knowledge and experience
We left port around 6 AM and one hour later we had our very first tuna fish on board 🙂 later on was only better. We have caught heaps of Dolphin Fish (Dorado) and some smaller fish later on.
We were lucky to admire beauty of dolphins on the way to fishery. In the end the crew have processed the fish and shared equally within all of customers so everyone got fish home. The crew was very helpful and nice. If you are planning to go fishing don't hesitate to go with John. You will not regret even if you will come back with no fish. It's all about fishing not fish 🙂

Great professional day out & a great catch, I was still eating fish for days after!!
Had another awesome trip with the ocean star last week! Awesome crew make the trip so comfortable. With their experience around Port Macquarie they know where the spots are and won’t take unnecessary risks by taking you out when the weathers bad! I’ve been on other charters personally that take you out in bad weather and it’s not good! What can I say, last week we had great conditions, a great crew that kept us fed and safe plus an experienced captain. If you love your fishing and want to even see some whales or more of the beautiful coast off Port Macquarie at the same time like you do on these trips then you can’t go past Port Macquarie fishing charters!

Awesome fishing trip. These guys are the best in the business
The crew on Ocean Star, John, Will and Dave were absolutely awesome. Not having done a lot of deep sea fishing before, they made me feel comfortable and explained everything extremely well. Their professionalism and years of experience made for a fun, successful and safe day of fishing out at sea.
With John's 20+ years of local experience you can be assured you are with the best of the best!

Excellent value for your money
John and his crew, Will & Dave, were very professional, friendly and helpful right throughout the day. Everyone on board all caught several fish each, including my monster Dolphin fish, which put up an incredible fight when I was trying to bring it in. Apart from nearly having a heart attack with the effort required, it was fantastic fun landing it on board. Looking forward to going again.

Perfect day fishing on Ocean Star
We really would like to thank John and his crew for such a great fishing trip that we recently had. After an early start we headed off at sunrise and soon found ourselves catching fish. We have never caught dolphinfish before but we sure did this day. The crew helped fillet the fish and the family had a great feed of a delicious fish for several days! We can't wait until our return to Port Macquarie and we will definitely be booking in for another fishing trip on the Ocean Star.

The boat left Port Macquarie a little before 6am and we got to see the sun rise over the Ocean. After 20 minutes or so we reached the fishing grounds with all the rods set up and baited. Within the first minute my 12 year old daughter had already caught a bigger than average snapper and followed that up a minute later with another. We now have enough fish to feed us both for a week sitting in the fridge/freezer at home.
The trip lasts around 6 hours with snacks and drinks included. The boat moves regularly to find the fish and the captain and crew know the good spots. This is mine and my daughter's second trip this fortnight and we will definitely come again next time we are in Port Macquarie.

This was my first ever experience on a fishing boat & I expected it to be a very messy experience but I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the boat & the way the in which the day unfolded.
From start to finish it was a truly wonderful experience. The fisherman were very friendly; one in particular kept us laughing the whole trip. Having never caught a fish before, I was challenged with having to put the bait on the line etc but rarely needed to because one of the crew were always on hand to do it for me.I w nt on to catch 6 of my own fish whilst the total for all of us was 50. Mainly Snapper & Flathead. I would highly recommend this day out to women like me who may think it's all a bit much because you will most likely find it's actually a whole lot of fun!! The men all cleaned the fish & we took lots home! There were snacks on board but I took a thermos full of hot tea & my own snacks. We saw whales, dolphins & the most gorgeous sunrise I have ever seen.
It is a really good value day out. Steve & I can't wait to go again!

For the past 15 years myself, brothers and mates have been using Port Macquarie Fishing Charters for a yearly trip. It is the high point of the weekend as John and crew always go out of their way to ensure we have a great morning, working hard to land us on the fish...9 out of 10 it's been successful. I would highly recommend them if your looking for a fishing charter as you definitely get value for money.

This was the best - a great experience with my teenagers too. Took my 2 boys out for the session. Champions! the deckies worked well and had a good sense of humour, skipper made my young fellas day letting him sit with him 'driving' the boat. Thanks guys we will be back for our 3rd session soon.

Best fishing charter in Port Mac. We have been fishing with the guy's on OCEAN STAR a few times now and nothing has changed.We continue to catch big fish and many of them,but also have lot's of laugh's while we catch them. They are a great crew,who know what they are doing. If you want to have a good fishing session and a good laugh,these guy's will not let you down.Thank's John for many very successful and funny fishing charters. We will see you guy's again very soon.

Went out yesterday on the 'Ocean Star' and the name really says it all. I found the crew excellent. The crew could not have been more helpful. They shared a lot of great fishing knowledge which was good for next time i go out myself. Only a couple of thumpers on the day but rarely did we have a fruitless drift. Heaps of fish caught and mostly keepers. (Flathead, snapper, morwong all plentiful, couple if others too) Great rods and reels, great boat, great service. Thanks for a top day. See you guys next year..

Recommended! Every time we're in Port Macquarie we going fishing on Ocean Star and never have been disappointed! The staff are wonderful very helpful and friendly even with grumpy old lady and at the end fish come nicely cleaned and packed. Perfect! Sure we will come back.

This day we caught 3 large Jew Fish and 1 Large Snapper. Plenty of smaller fish as well. Everyone on board had a good take home feed.

Amazing!
We went out fishing yesterday .... had an incredible day! Right from when we left the dock to when we returned it was an amazing time. They looked after us.... had a lot of great stories and laughs, caught a lot of fish.... they looked after everybody with smiles and enthusiasm and for sure we would recommend this fishing charter and definitely would not hesitate to go again. Thank you John for a fantastic day!

Fanastic. My husband and son went out for a morning fish last week. They said they had a fantastic time and could not have been looked after any better. John picked them up from our caravan park ( this meant I didn't have to get up early myself!) and then delivered them safely home. Not many fish were caught but the crew did everything they could to find the fish. We enjoyed a nice flathead for tea that night. One thing I noted was that after hearing John on the phone talking to my husband was how friendly he sounded - would suggest this business anytime.

Service extraordinaire. Booked a day's deep sea fishing on this charter boat and had a day to remember. Boat was safe and smooth, I caught some fish (some big ones, too) but the wonderful thing was the service provided by the staff. The rods were loaded and ready to go, hooks were baited and all I had to do was lower the bait and hang on. The food and drink supplied was basic but there was little time in the six hours for eating and drinking while the fish were biting. Simply a perfectly run operation. They even cleaned and filleted to fish. I took home a bag full. Be warned it is an early start (5.45am) so wear a warm jacket for the trip out to sea. The wind can be a bit chilly. An experience of a lifetime for landlubbers like me.

Wonderful day out fishing. Booked a fishing charter whilst in Port Macquarie for a few days and was not disappointed. Everything was well organised and the crew were very friendly and helpful. Got to catch some snapper and flathead which made my day. Thoroughly looking forward to doing it all again when l go back in April next year. Thanks again Ocean Star!

Fantastic day outside fishing. I have fished all over the world and I must say that your charter operation is extremely great value as most charters in Australia start at $200. We caught a large range of different fish and your staff could not do enough to assist with re rigging lines, taking fish off for the girls etc. They then cleaned the fish a great day was had by all. I can not wait to go fishing with you guys again many thanks.
